Cluster

I dont’t know why, but I buyed two old Sparcs, sparky and sparkus, a SparcStation 10 and a SparcStation 5. They are pretty useless nowedays, but I do like Sun hardware, and this old stuff is the only I can afford, because new ones are pretty expensive in Argentina.

Anyway, I was thinking about what to do with them (just to convince m wife that I really need them), and surfing I get across Toy COW box. I liked it and decided to try something similar.

I begun studing how to make them boot off the network, I read this and many other texts, and managed to make them netboot from a linux server.

I made some modifications so that each machine had it’s own configuration directories and loose interest on the project, because let’s face it, I do not need a cluster at home! 😦
